Shopping the showrooms at Forty One Madison
The new mid-week start to the New York Tabletop Market® seemed to agree with everyone and generated a host of showroom and press parties including landmark anniversary celebrations from several companies. The weather was balmy with tulips blooming in bright profusion in the front plaza of Forty One Madison. One afternoon, a buyer who stepped outside to talk on his cell phone was overheard to say: “It’s a fluid situation at the moment!” Whether he was referring to the most recent political debate, his open-tobuy or musing if his flight was actually going to take off as planned is anyone’s guess. One thing was certain: The tabletop market has spoken. It said: “No more weekends. Shorter market dates.” Be sure to note the new schedule, which begins this October and 2009 Market Dates on the front cover.
